OCCHS was formed in 1971 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic Campbell County, Georgia and the documents, images, artifacts, and information that are part of our community.
Our preservation activities include authenticating and filing the documents and images entrusted to our care. Using best practices, we clean and display a variety of artifacts for display in our museum. We also work diligently to keep our research library organized and accessible for community use.
Our research library is packed with books, documents, newspapers, maps, and photographs relating to Campbell County (now much of south Fulton County and Douglas County), and surrounding areas. Much of this material is not available elsewhere. We also have a microfilm reader available for viewing microfilms.
Our volunteer staff are passionate about all things Campbell County and eager to help you in your research. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have. You can type your question into the contact form below, stop by the train depot during normal business hours, or give us a call at 770-969-5618. We look forward to serving you!
Step back in time and meet the people of Palmetto, Georgia. See the homes they lived in, the clothes they wore, and common household items they used. Learn what the people did for leisure and where they attended church and school. Gain deeper insights on how how war, agriculture, employment, and bank robberies affected the people of this community, while walking through the very building that served as a common denominator for them all... the train depot!
Museum is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue preserving the memory of Georgia's historic Campbell County for future generations!
